At the Just Lead Conference 2025, Certa Foundation made a notable contribution through active participation in various panel discussions and thought leadership engagements. A key highlight of the Foundation’s involvement was the fireside chat led by its Founder and Executive Director, Me Florida Kabasinga.
Garvey-Nkrumah Fellowship Visit
The Center for Law and Innovation recently welcomed the Garvey-Nkrumah Fellowship Program to Kigali for a week of immersive learning, institutional visits, and cross-cultural exchange. Fourteen fellows and two facilitators took part in the visit, which forms part of a broader summer program aimed at preparing aspiring lawyers of African descent for impactful careers in international law, public policy, and conflict resolution.

On 28th July, Green Legacy Nigeria, in partnership with the Center for Climate Justice at Certa Foundation, successfully hosted the Kano Climate Justice Summit, Nigeria Country Insight in Kano State.

Tech Policy Hackathon 2025
This year, the Center for Law and Innovation, in partnership with API Intelligence and Tech Hive Advisory, hosted the second edition of the Tech Policy Hackathon. The six-week virtual program brought together 60 participants from across Africa, selected from over 120 applicants, to engage deeply with the complex challenges of governing emerging technologies.

We are proud to share that Certa Foundation has been honored with the Champion of Diversity and Inclusion Award at the East Africa In-House Counsel Convention 2025, held under the theme “Pioneering Excellence: Navigating the Future of In-House Practice.”

Leveraging Results for Fundraising and External Communications Workshop
On 27–28 August 2025, Kvinna Till Kvinna hosted a two-day workshop on “Leveraging Results for Fundraising and External Communications.” The training was convened in response to Mid-Term Review findings, which showed that while partner organisations collect valuable monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) data and testimonies, these are not always fully utilised to demonstrate impact externally.

Enhancing Access to Justice for SGBV Survivors – Musanze District Training
The Center for Justice and Advocacy (CJA), in its continued commitment to promote equitable justice, held a training in Musanze District under the theme “Enhancing Access to Justice for SGBV Survivors and Strengthening Justice Actors in Rwanda.”

Enhancing Access to Justice for SGBV Survivors in Kirehe District: A Multi-Stakeholder Commitment
On 06th August, the Center for Justice and Advocacy at Certa Foundation, in collaboration with The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation, recently hosted a transformative two-day Training of Trainers (ToT) in Kirehe District. The training focused on strengthening institutional responses to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and advancing a more survivor-centered justice system.

Tax Masterclass for the Startup Ecosystem
On 28th August, we had the privilege of convening a deeply engaging Tax Masterclass for the startup ecosystem, delivered in partnership with Andersen and hosted at Norrsken. The session brought together founders, ecosystem players and tax experts for an in-depth exploration of the tax considerations that so often determine whether early-stage ventures thrive or falter.

ALT Summit Report: Shaping Africa's Legal Innovation Future: Insights & Recommendations From The ALT Network Summit 2025
Following the success of the African Law and Tech Network Summit 2025, the Center for Law and Innovation has released a new report titled Shaping Africa’s Legal Innovation Future: Insights and Recommendations from the ALT Network Summit 2025. The report captures key reflections, discussions, and forward-looking recommendations that emerged from the two-day Summit, which convened over 130 delegates from more than 20 African countries in Kigali, Rwanda.

Tech Policy Hackathon Kickoff
In June, the Center for Law and Innovation partnered with Tech Hive Advisory and API Intelligence to launch the second edition of the Technology Policy Hackathon. This six-week virtual program brings together legal professionals, policymakers, researchers, and technologists from across Africa to address some of the continent’s most pressing challenges in digital governance.

Jasiri Ntore Cohort Shareholders' Agreements
This June, the Center for Law and Innovation completed the fifteen (15) Shareholders’ Agreements for the Jasiri Ntore cohort of startup ventures. Each agreement was crafted through dedicated one-on-one sessions with the founders, allowing us to tailor the terms to the specific needs of each venture and its shareholders.

Youth Power in Action: Rights, Inclusion & Justice!
Center for Justice and Advocacy was represented at a 4-day workshop organized by Nudor through the Make Way program, bringing together young leaders from across Rwanda including the Rwanda National Youth Council under one roof to deepen their knowledge and advocacy around: Disability, Rights & Inclusion, Human Rights Principles and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)
