Building on the momentum of the inaugural 2024 Sustainability Summit in Kigali, the Sustainability Summit 2025 convened leaders, practitioners, innovators, and communities in Nairobi to deepen Africa’s collective commitment to climate justice. The Summit reaffirmed a shared conviction: Africa’s climate future must be people-centered, equity-driven, and grounded in local realities.

Through powerful discussions and community-led insights, the Summit reframed climate change as not merely an environmental challenge, but a governance, socio-economic, and justice imperative. Participants emphasized that meaningful climate action must place human rights, inclusive leadership, and indigenous knowledge at its core, recognizing that resilience is built when policies serve people with dignity, accountability, and fairness.

This Policy Brief captures those reflections and translates them into actionable recommendations for policymakers, businesses, civil society, and communities, offering a roadmap for a just and sustainable transition led by Africa, for Africa.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our co-conveners and partners whose collaboration made this Summit and Policy Brief possible, including ALN Kenya, GSMA, Icelis Global, and Green Legacy, for their unwavering support and commitment to advancing climate justice across the continent.
