National colloquium

On November 13, 2025, the Center for Justice and Advocacy at Certa Foundation, in partnership with Kvinna Till Kvinna, convened the National Colloquium on Victim Protection and the Establishment of Specialized GBV Chambers.

The gathering brought together judges, prosecutors, legal practitioners, civil society actors, and policymakers to examine the findings of Our Discussion Paper proposing the creation of specialized chambers dedicated to handling GBV cases.

Speakers emphasized persistent gaps in victim protection, from breaches of privacy and inadequate legal representation, to limited capacity among justice actors and the heavy backlog of GBV cases. The colloquium underscored the need for a coordinated, victim-centered approach, improved understanding of SGBV across all justice institutions, and stronger mechanisms to ensure victims with disabilities are fully supported.

The discussions reaffirmed a shared commitment: to advance a justice system that is faster, safer, and truly centered on the rights and dignity of Victims.
