The Government of Rwanda (GoR) has made remarkable progress in preventing and responding to Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Anchored in the Constitution of 2003, revised in 2015, which guarantees human dignity and prohibits all forms of discrimination, the country has enacted legal and policy instruments including the National Policy against Gender-Based Violence and the National Gender Policy. Specific measures to prevent GBV are also included in the National Integrated Child Rights Policy, and the National Policy of Persons with Disabilities, among other policies. In addition, various laws have been enacted to advance the prevention and punishment of Sexual and Gender- Based violence.
