On 27 November 2025, the Center for Justice and Advocacy at Certa Foundation in partnership with Kvinna Till Kvinna conducted a 16 Days of Activism awareness campaign at Muhabura Integrated Polytechnic College (MIPC) in Musanze District, under the national theme “All for GBV-free families” “Twubake Umuryango uzira Ihohotera” and the global call to end digital violence against all women and girls. Bringing together students, teachers, local leaders from Cyuve Sector, and GBV service providers, the activity aimed to deepen youth understanding of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), safe online behavior, and available reporting pathways. The Executive Secretary of Cyuve Sector opened the campaign by appreciating Rwanda’s progress in fighting GBV while urging students to take responsibility in building safe learning environments.

Through an engaging awareness session led by Me. Uwizeyimana Dative, participants explored the definition and forms of GBV, including physical, sexual, psychological, economic, and digital violence. The session emphasized practical steps young people can take to report incidents, such as contacting the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) or Isange One Stop Center and highlighted the importance of preserving evidence, including not altering clothing after an assault and keeping messages or screenshots in cases of digital abuse. Students were encouraged to support peers, challenge harmful gender norms, and actively promote respectful behavior both online and offline.

The campaign strengthened collaboration between MIPC, Cyuve Sector leadership, and Certa Foundation, resulting in increased awareness of GBV risks, legal protections, and available services for survivors. By equipping youth with critical knowledge and fostering accountability within the school community, the activity contributed to the broader national effort to promote justice, safety, and gender equality. Certa Foundation remains committed to empowering young people and partnering with institutions to build violence-free environments across Rwanda.
