Youth Power in Action: Rights, Inclusion & Justice!

Center for Justice and Advocacy was represented at a 4-day workshop organized by Nudor through the Make Way program, bringing together young leaders from across Rwanda including the Rwanda National Youth Council under one roof to deepen their knowledge and advocacy around:
- Disability Rights & Inclusion
- Human Rights Principles
- Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)
The Center for Justice and Advocacy (CJA) is proud to have supported this timely initiative that centers youth voices particularly those of girls and women with disabilities in critical conversations on justice, equity, and dignity.
As per thereport of 2021, women and girls with disabilities are up to three times more likely to experience sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) than their non-disabled peers. In Rwanda, limited access to inclusive SRHR education, disability stigma, and systemic inaccessibility continue to silence victims and prevent them from seeking justice or care.Youth participants critically engaged with legal frameworks, advocacy tools, and social change strategies that challenge discriminatory norms and demand accountability.
They explored what it means to advocate not just for disability inclusion, but for intersectional justice that upholds dignity. As part of our ongoing mission, CJA works closely with girls and women with disabilities, empowering them with legal knowledge, psychosocial support, and pathways to justice. This workshop aligns directly with our goals: to amplify the voices of the most vulnerable, and to push for legal, institutional, and cultural change.
We explored various advocacy mechanisms for policy change and awareness such as research efforts to bring attention to legal gaps. Currently Rwanda Through participatory dialogue, legal literacy, and rights-based training, youth emerged from this space with a stronger resolve not only to know their rights, but to defend them.
CJA remains committed to supporting such impactful spaces where young leaders and so many others, drive Rwanda’s human rights agenda forward.
