In June, the Center for Law and Innovation partnered with Tech Hive Advisory and API Intelligence to launch the second edition of the Technology Policy Hackathon. This six-week virtual program brings together legal professionals, policymakers, researchers, and technologists from across Africa to address some of the continent’s most pressing challenges in digital governance.

More than 60 participants were selected from a highly competitive pool of over 120 applicants. The Hackathon began with a focus on regulatory theory and innovation. Early sessions introduced key concepts in regulation, explored the technologies shaping our future, and examined policy dilemmas emerging across different African contexts.

Through a series of expert-led sessions, participants are exploring how law and policy can respond to rapidly evolving technologies. The goal is to co-create forward-thinking policy proposals that reflect both local realities and global shifts.

The Hackathon will continue through early August and will conclude with the presentation of these proposals. This initiative highlights the Center’s commitment to building the next generation of legal and policy leaders equipped to shape Africa’s digital future.
