The Center for Law & Innovation proudly announces the second edition of the Technology Policy Hackathon. This six-week virtual program offers a unique platform for African legal professionals, policymakers, researchers, and technology experts to collaborate on addressing the pressing regulatory challenges presented by emerging technologies. From June 23 to August 1, 2025, you will engage in insightful lectures, develop innovative policy solutions, and contribute directly to critical conversations at the intersection of law, technology, and public policy.

Format
The Hackathon will follow a phased approach over six weeks:
- Weeks 1-2: Learn from Global Experts. Participants will engage in intensive learning sessions led by seasoned global experts, exploring theories of regulation, innovative models, and the intricacies of emerging technologies.
- Weeks 3-5: Co-create Solutions. Teams will collaborate virtually to develop comprehensive policy interventions for assigned challenges, applying their newly acquired knowledge to real-world scenarios.
- Week 6: Expert Assessment. A panel of seasoned experts will rigorously assess the developed policy solutions, culminating in the recognition of impactful and innovative proposals.
Recognition
All active participants will receive digital certificates of participation, acknowledging their commitment and contributions to the event.
Eligibility Requirements
The Applicant must:
- Have an interest in areas such as law, policy making, regulation, or technology.
- Should have a good command of the English Language. The program is entirely in English.
- Must be able to dedicate four hours each day during the first two weeks of the hackathon. A commitment of two hours daily is required for the subsequent four weeks.
- Must actively engage in discussions and collaborate on project tasks throughout the program.
- Should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team environment, communicate ideas clearly, and contribute positively to group dynamics.
- Must be available and actively involved for the entire duration. The program runs from June 23rd to August 4th.
