Earlier this month, the Center for Law and Innovation, in collaboration with ALP NG and Co (Nigeria), Law Pavilion (Nigeria), Trust Law Chambers (Rwanda), CM Advocates (Rwanda), Hackapath (Nigeria), and the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (Rwanda), successfully hosted the 2025 ALT Network Summit in Kigali.
The Summit convened over 130 delegates from 20 African countries, creating a dynamic platform for cross-border dialogue on how law and technology can serve as catalysts for sustainable development across the continent. The event underscored the growing importance of innovation, collaboration, and legal reform in addressing Africa’s development priorities.
Held under the theme “Building Bridges: Legal Innovations and Technology for a Sustainable Future,” the two-day summit focused on accelerating digital transformation within legal systems, promoting regulatory harmonization, integrating AI into justice delivery, and strengthening legal education to align with the demands of a digital era.
Legal professionals, technologists, policymakers, and academics engaged in dynamic discussions on how Africa’s legal frameworks can evolve to foster innovation while ensuring equitable access to justice. The summit featured panel discussions and strategic workshops that addressed critical issues, including regulatory fragmentation, infrastructure gaps, and the need for capacity building in the legal sector.
The Summit underscored the value of collaboration and locally-driven solutions, encouraging coordinated efforts to unlock the continent’s potential for legal innovation. The event underscored the importance of developing legal systems that are not only adaptable but also inclusive and future-ready by prioritizing African perspectives and contextual realities.
We look forward to reconvening next year as we continue to drive legal innovation and promote inclusive digital transformation across the continent.
